The Vale House Christmas Home Tour

Mom and I were pretty disappointed when we learned that the local home tours that we look forward to every year around Christmas were canceled. So rather than letting 2020 disappoint us again, we decided to create virtual Christmas Home Tours for us all to enjoy. Every day this week you’ll see a new home up on the blog and you are going to LOVE every single one. Each tour will include video AND photos for you to take in all the inspiration to the fullest extent.

First up on this series is our friend Amber of @TheValeHome. We’ve toured Amber’s home on the blog in the past and it was a huge hit. We’re excited for you to see the updates she’s made and how she adds holiday cheer to her Modern Farmhouse.

MODERN FARMHOUSE CHRISTMAS LIVING ROOM

Let’s start in Amber’s living room. As you enter through her from door the entry leads you straight into the living room. The home is an open concept and I love how she placed her tree in between the kitchen in the living allowing you to experience all it’s glory in every room. The tree is neutral and bold all at the same time. My favorite part was the hidden pops of animal print and the pheasant feathers wrapping around the tree.

The mantle is decorated with bells that have a vintage look (although they are new) teamed with a simple garland. I love that her stockings are cohesive, but not the same. You’ll see another pop of leopard in the basket along with a nativity pillow that Amber mentions is one of her favorite finds for holiday decor. Another thing to note about Amber’s fireplace is her deer head which the family calls Larry. I joke with Amber that the way she decorates with deer heads so well has saved many marriages. If you ever thought a deer would ruin your design plans, this fireplace will prove you wrong. And just wait because there are two other furry friends coming in the tour that will change your perspective even more.

MODERN FARMHOUSE CHRISTMAS KITCHEN & BREAKFAST NOOK

I love Amber’s kitchen and you will too! The warmth of the vent hood wrapped in wood with the white cabinets and patterned tile is perfection. Add a dose of Christmas decor and it’s a dream. If you love the look of open shelving but have felt that it might not be the most functional option for your family then Amber’s kitchen will be a great inspiration for you. She has upper cabinets all on the back wall and shelves on the left side of the island. She has this area set up almost like a coffee bar and has decorated it perfectly for the season.

Another thing I LOVE about her kitchen is the gold pendants above her island. In the video she shares that they took 8 months to come in but were well worth the wait. What do you think? They go great with her sink faucet and hardware on the cabinets.

The other Christmas elements in the kitchen are pretty simple. She added budget-friendly wreaths to the cabinet doors and accessorized with a few Hobby Lobby finds. One creative thing she did was hang letters that spell NOEL on the backs of the barstools. Decor like this is great because it allows you to get festive without taking away function. I always like to be careful with holiday decor in the kitchen that you don’t take up too much counter space.

She finishes the space with bottle brush trees in the breakfast nook. One tip she shared that I thought was super helpful was that she shows for Christmas decor all year at Thrift Shops and Antique Stores. This not only gives her a very unique look but also makes it very cost-effective. We’re all about saving a dollar here and there so we’ll be shopping for holiday decor all 2021 😉

MODERN FARMHOUSE CHRISTMAS DINING ROOM

There’s nothing better than a GIANT dining table. Amber’s table seats TWELVE. She’s created a stunning tablescape with greenery and mercury glass Christmas trees that she’s collected over the years. She hung picks to the back of the chairs and accessorized them with ribbon and bells. Here is where our other furry friends come to make their statement. In the video, you’ll see that in one view you can see Larry the deer on the mirror in between these two deer heads in the dining room. Ladies, go ahead and tell your husband that he can pull out his deer heads and admit that you were wrong about not being able to decorate with them 😂

MODERN FARMHOUSE CHRISTMAS MASTER BEDROOM

This room is such a treat. The green velvet curtains make such a statement and I was shocked to learn they’re from IKEA. They look so luxe, but they’re really a fun IKEA find. Also, I couldn’t keep my eyes off her antique mantle spruced up for the holidays. It’s funny because I honestly didn’t remember this piece from the last time we came to tour. Sometimes a little Christmas decor can make things pop in your home and give you a fresh appreciation for them.

I hope Amber’s home tour brought you as much joy as it brought me. Every detail was so thoughtful and unique. Make sure to give Amber a follow on Instagram at @TheValeHouse. Also, be sure to sign up for our email to get the other 4 home tours releasing this week. You really are going to love them all.
