Summer Patio Refresh – Patio Decorating Ideas 2021

As we enter the summer season, mom and I wanted to take you along for a little patio refresh to prepare for lots of outdoor time with family and friends. The patio needed a little clean up then we dressed it up a little bit! I hope this post inspires you to spruce up your outdoor spaces to enjoy the season.

MAIN SITTING AREA

We started our refresh on the main porch area. The existing furniture needed a little cleaning after the crazy rainy weather we’ve had for over a month in Texas. The hanging porch swing bed is custom-made by a local woodworker and is made around a twin bed. Mom got the cover for it from World Market and it comes off easily to throw in the wash. The pillows here are from Etsy and extremely affordable. They have also held up amazing in the weather.

The other outdoor sofa and chairs is from Ashley Furniture. It’s held up in the weather and we love the look. The coffee table was from a local boutique vendor market called The Rustic Warehouse. This one looks pretty similar.

You can see we layered the cowhide over the existing rugs here. A cowhide wouldn’t hold up in the weather, but we wanted to get an idea of how a layered rug would look here so we brought it out. This is a great tip when designing a space. Use what you have to test the look temporarily before you make another investment.

We also styled this hutch mom found on Facebook Marketplace to function like a potting bench. My dad is a big gardener so this piece is not only pretty, but it’s functional.

LOWER DECK – POOL AND DINING AREA

Mom’s pool was remodeled last year and we plan on using it as much as possible this summer. These ledge loungers and the view from the pool are truly a dream. I love this area because it has the perfect summer patio trio—dining, pool, and firepit. These are the ingredients to the perfect outdoor experience.

The dining chairs and table were a bit of an investment, but they are made of teak so they’ll last forever. If you want the look for less I found these chairs with a similar look online!

We made a tablescape with green plates and cloth napkins along with faux lemons. We cut stems from around the yard and stuck them in vases from the Dollar General and voilà, we’re done!

We’re now ready for a fun-filled summer outside with pool time, great food, and lots of lounging on the hanging swing bed. Have you spruced up for summer? I’d love to know in the comments below.
