Christmas Home Tour with Christi of July Hat Co

Last year mom and I decided to do a week of Christmas home tours! We’re so excited to kick off Christmas Home Tours for 2022. Every day this week you’ll see a new home up on the blog and you are going to LOVE every single one.

Today we’re on tour four with our friend Christi of @JulyHatCo. Christi and her family have lived in this 120-year-old home for 18 years. She has a cottage style that we’re calling granny chic! We’ think you’ll love her Christmas!

ENTRY

The front entry stairwell draws your eyes up to the beautiful collection of vintage mirrors. Christi has various collections throughout the home. Like the mirrors, her collections are thoughtful, meaningful, and well displayed. A charming white bench with simple pillows and a throw gives you a taste of comfort that you’ll find in every room!

LIVING ROOM

Just off the entry is a living room where you’ll find velvet red chairs that look like they were made for Christmas. The tree in this room is undecorated. Christi’s been doing this for years. Now, it’s really become a trend. We joked she was ahead of her time. This room is cozy and comfy and just says come sit awhile!

KITCHEN

The kitchen is next on our tour as it opens from the living room. The everyday red and green makes it easy to decorate this space for Christmas! The hutch stays neutral with the collection of pitchers and other dishes. Some bottle brush trees and a few other pops of Christmas were added.

Christi said she wants people to feel like they’ve come home to grandmas when they visit. The kitchen definitely gives you that feel. The old farm sink with the granny chic valance above and skirt below, the pressed tin ceiling, and vintage style fridge give the appearance of grandmas. But the cupboard display of vintage dishes, the sugar and four out on the counter, not to mention the yummy cake on the island, will truly take you back. And of course, Christi’s love and ease for hosting family and friends really captures the essence of a much simpler time!

DINING ROOM

Can you guess this years Christmas theme? Yee Haw! This dining room is Cowboy Christmas! The dishes depicting horses and cowboys, outlined with brands are some of the most unique and fun ideas we’ve seen. There’s so much attention to detail. The centerpiece on the table is an old crate filled with items like holly, cowbells and an iron skillet. Each place setting has a tiny grain sack holding the silverware and a bandana around every drinking glass. Again, the everyday red ladder back chairs are perfect at Christmas! And the big blue rocker with Santa pillow makes the coziest corner. The wreath was created using a wagon wheel for the base. A few of Christi’s husband Rob’s real life West Texas Cowboy items, like a lasso and some deer horns; add in stirrips, a plaid bow, and this wreath is one of a kind! A collection of red vintage clocks is always one of my favorite displays in the house. And a hot cocoa bar makes this room complete!

FAMILY ROOM

The family room comes alive at Christmastime. There are fun pillows, quilts, little trees everywhere. Another fun collectable Christi has had for years are paper houses. However, this year I spotted something new. I wondered how I might get out of the house with it unnoticed—a two foot tall chalkware horse clock. It was tucked on a corner vignette but it shined like the star of the show! Christi found it on a treasure hunt in an antique mall with friends. She left it at first but couldn’t stop thinking about it and asked her friends to stop on the way out of town. This piece was a reminder of Christi’s days growing up, barefoot at the fair.

POOL HOUSE/HAT STUDIO

You can rename this whatever you see fit

HAT TRAILER

Christi owns a hat store called July Hat Co. She sells amazing unique hats that she embellishes by hand. Some are new and some vintage. She has them beautifully displayed in her red barn and also has a fun trailer that she sells her hats at events. I love how it’s perfectly painted to coordinate with the barn.

PRAIRIE HOUSE

Christi has a prairie house on the property that is perfectly decorated for Christmas. She bought it second hand and it’s been well-loved by the kids—even my own. I love the character it brings to her property and that even areas like this get a little holiday cheer.

Thank you Christi for inviting us into your home!

I hope Christi’s home tour brought you as much joy as it brought us. Make sure to give Mattie a follow on Instagram at @JulyHatCo. Also, be sure to sign up for our email to see the last home tour releasing tomorrow. You really are going to love them all.
